Na'ama-Rose Kochman | Ph.D. student
My research field is coral energetics under environmental stress. To address this topic, I use multiple approaches, while combining physiological and molecular tools.
I decided to study marine biology with an emphasis on coral reefs due to my immense passion for them. I find reef ecosystems the best teacher for cooperation, vividness, and peacefulness. Their rapid deterioration due to anthropogenic stressors has led me to dedicate my science to their conservation.
I completed my B.Sc. in marine biology and biotechnology from Ben-Gurion University in 2018, while performing my undergraduate research in Prof. Fine's lab, under Guilhem Banc-Prandi's guidance. I completed my M.Sc. (cum laude) in coral energetics from Bar-Ilan University in 2020 and continued on a direct course to Ph.D. I am currently the students representative of the Interuniversity Institute (IUI) diving committee and head of the IUI media content.
Additionally, I am a diving instructor (IDF, PADI, SDI) and a skipper in training.
I enjoy reading, freediving, practicing yoga and hiking while defining the names of flora and fauna.
I am a hard-working scientist who is fully devoted to research and conservation of the unique reefs of the Red-Sea under a changing environment.
