Our oceans are changing

The ocean environment is facing rapid climate change due to 200 years of human industrial activity. This is causing shifts in whole ecosystems and putting pressure on the sea as a resource for a growing population. To better manage these resources, it's crucial to understand the cause and effect of these changes. Some organisms, like coral reefs, are vulnerable to environmental changes and may be in danger of disappearing or undergoing changes in their structure. Our research group focuses on studying the resilience of reefs and corals to environmental change at different levels. Our lab, based at the Interuniversity Institute in Eilat, conducts both field and laboratory experiments to examine the effects of ocean acidification, thermal stress, and local stressors on coral physiology and ecology.
